I’m a 31-year-old American with a PhD in chemistry and a green hat. Only one of these two things is really important. My goal is to live on every continent for at least one year. Including Antarctica. I’ve gotten North America, Africa, Europe, and Asia so far, and I’m working on Australia at the moment.
This blog is primarily written as a way for me to share my thoughts and experiences with my friends and family, most of whom I don’t get to see very often since I’m, well, generally off on some other continent. I don’t really expect anyone who doesn’t know me personally to find it especially riveting but hey, if you’ve stumbled upon it by accident and find it mildly entertaining, that’s great.
I’ve always wanted to be a writer, and I’ve finally reached a point in my life where I’m ready to actually give it a shot. So at least part of this blog is going to be a chronicle of my attempts to get a novel published. There’s a lot of inspiring stories out there about people who through talent, hard work and a bit of luck have become successful writers, but what about all of the thousands of aspiring writers who never made it? We never hear their stories, because they never got published.
I guess they all just have blogs.
